New Bollywood, Classical Dance Classes launch in August 2010.

Flex FX Productions presents Bollywood Master Class. A course that brings together a variety of dance styles from traditional Indian classical and bhangra dances to modern dance. This variety produces a limitless dance vocabulary that will be developed through the course. Students will be taught the technique, discipline and emotion behind Bollywood dance as well as the fun and comical nature of the style. No experience is necessary.

Courses will be taught by the pioneer himself Naz Choudhury and supported by nationally renowned choreographer Leena Patel; a specialist in many art forms, aslo Dance Captin's Nikki Patel, Shareen Pennington and Ketul Patel.

Feedback to Confirm Progress
Students will be assessed throughout the course and will be given feedback on how to improve individually, at the end of each course the course tutor will conduct a feedback session with the whole group for notes and ways to improve the course.

Please wear comfortable clothes to allow arms and legs to move freely, and please bring refreshments and water to keep hydrated during the classes.

Example: 10 Week Bollywood Dance Course
Each Class:
A warm-up and cool down; corner to corner / co-ordination / technical exercises. There is a chance at the end of each lesson to dance your routine whilst the teacher watches, coaches and comments.

Weeks 1-2
An introduction to the genre of Bollywood Dance. The course will start with simple movements beginning with the progressive engagement of each limb to develop coordination. Popular Bollywood dance vocabulary will be taught over a fortnight to begin the range of movements within the student’s capacity.

Weeks 3-5
Focusing on the Eastern aspect of Bollywood and developing dance vocabulary in the styles of Bhangra, Traditional and Garba dance. Detailed hand gestures and movement angles will be of particular focus.

Weeks 6-8
Focusing on the Western aspect of Bollywood and developing an understanding of the evolution of Bollywood dance, venturing into the styles of Latin and Street Dance. Timing and power variation of movements will be emphasised here.

Week 9-10
An introduction to Bollywood jazz, classical and expressional dance. Students will be able to gain an insight into the different expressions behind each song used in the dance classes. Combining all the dance vocabulary learned over the course, students will have a chance to put everything together to create an East-West dance act.

* Exact course may differ as it is often tailored to the students taking the course. The length of your course will also affect the material covered but will generally follow this structure.
